1. How did you get into music?

Both my parents are classically trained singers, and played guitar and piano at home a lot when I was growing up, and from age 4 I was getting piano lessons, so i didn't really have to get into music - i was already in it!

2. Who were your idols growing up?

As I grew older it changed, but I looked up to dudes like Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain & Dimebag Darrell. Local punk bands like Seraphs Coal and STR became my idols after that. haha.

3. Who were your influences?

I think influence is often subconscious as well as direct. So I know that I have been influenced alot by the bands I've listened to and loved over the years, but I also reckon that being surrounded by different types of music at school, at home, at church, listening to the radio in the car as a kid - all these things have contributed I reckon.

4. Are you happy with the responses from the latest release?

So far we've only released our demo which is called 'Battlefield Postcards', which we recorded ourselves at my house. We started off recording it as an experiment just for ourselves but by the time it was finished it sounded awesome so we thought we'd see what people thought of it. The response was amazing, heaps of positive feedback and they disappeared really fast, we got rid of over 500 copies in a few months. Plus we've had a couple of really good reviews of the demo too, so yeah, the response has been only positive for us.

5. What have responses been like to your music on the web?

Great, yeah we have a myspace (www.myspace.com/movetostrikemyspace) and thru that I think our songs have reached another side of the audience that wouldn't have heard them otherwise.

6. Has the Internet helped with your music?

Yeah we've had a few people contact us wanting to produce our next record and such things purely thru the myspace, so its definitely an awesome way for people to connect.

7. Do you think tools like MySpace are useful?

Myspace is totally changing the way that the music community works, I think its great.

8. What is the Adelaide scene like for punk and hardcore?

For a relatively small city, Adelaide has a very very healthy punk and hardcore scene. There's always new bands popping up, and there are sell out crowds rocking up to shows every weekend. The only downside is that many international bands bypass A-town which is very disappointing.

9. Has street press and zines like Pee helped with getting your name out their?

Yeah Pee and dB and RipitIp have got behind us and the Advertiser has as well. Its hard to know how powerful an influence street press and zines have, but I'd say that its all positive.

10. What inspires the band when writing music?

Music itself is a major inspiration for us, we get really amped on how other musicians are stretching boundaries and blurring the lines between genres and this gives us a freedom to make a new sound for ourselves, and to craft our songs til they are at their best. Lyrically, I write about what ever it is that the music speaks to me about. Our songs are just honest reflections of what life dishes up and my take on those events.

11. Have you had much response from radio?

Yeah Nova in S.A. has been playing 'Inflight' from 'Battlefield Postcards' fairly consistently for about 8 months as part of their Homebrew local artists campaign. Its been awesome to have that kind of airplay from a recording we made ourselves.

12. What has been your favourite gig to date?

Probably our first show, and last Saturday at Enigma Bar in Adelaide, we supported Antiskeptic.

13. What was it like to play with Antiskeptic?

We were the little grommet punks getting down in the crowd to those guys a few years back, and they've been one of our favourite bands for a long time, so it was a real honour to play with them.

14. Have you had much response from labels regarding your music?

Yeah we've had a few people express interest, we're about to go into the studio to record our first EP, and I think once we have that recording to show where we're headed musically, hooking up with a label for it will come into play.

15. Do you hope being on the new Pee Zine Compilation will help the band?

Yeah I think that the compilation is a great showcase of what's out there at the current moment, and its a pleasure to be on there with so many fine bands.

16. What are some of your favourite musicial artists/bands?

In the last few weeks Ive been getting into some quite different stuff, so I'm currently pretty amped on Lily Allen's album, Muse's new album, Gotye, Crowded House, Bon Jovi, some old Motown stuff, Anberlin, Cave In, the list goes on and it always will haha.

17. Any plans to tour around the country?

Yeah we're currently putting together a tour for later this year, around early October I think, we've only left the state once before, but we'll definitely be visiting everywhere we possibly can once our new EP is out!

18 Who have you has helped you out the most?

I'm not sure I understand this question. haha

19. Who would you do a split ep with?

Hmmmm. I'd love to do a split, I'm pretty open to suggestions, but there are many bands out at the moment who would go well on a record with us I think. I'd love to do something similar to the Jebediah / Jimmy Eat World split from a few years back.

20. What next for the band?

Like I said we're about to record our first EP, and then after that we're gonna be playing songs off of that to everyone who will stop and listen! So hopefully by this time next year we will have played in all the major cities in Australia at least once! There's an aim for us! haha
